Exchange Student Goes to Yogyakarta 2018 22 October 2018 Annually, International Office Universitas Kristen Maranatha arranges a trip for the inbound exchange and international students. This year, International Office and the exchange students went to Yogyakarta. The trip was 3 day long, from 19 October to 21 October 2018. There were 5 exchange students from Malaysia and Japan and 2 representatives of International Office. The trip to Yogyakarta aims to introduce more Indonesian culture to the exchange students so they can learn more about the diverse culture Indonesia has. On the first day, participants went to Yogyakarta by train. It took 8 hours from Bandung to Yogyakarta. Arriving at Yogyakarta, the participants went for silver workshop. At night, the exchange students tasted the infamous Sate Klathak, satay made of lamb. After that, they experience the night shopping at Malioboro Street. The second day, the participants went to Borobudur and Prambanan temple. Those temples are the heritage of Indonesia. Next, they visited Breksi Cliff and enjoyed the breathtaking view of Yogyakarta in the evening. Later, they had “bakmi nyemek,” at Bakmi Kadin. On the last day, the participants went on a tour around Mount Merapi using jeep in the morning. After that, they visited Keraton Yogyakarta, the Sultanate Palace and Tamansari, Water Castle. They had lunch at Gudeg Yu Djum, one of the best selling gudeg restaurant in Yogyakarta. Before departing to Bandung, the participants went to Bakpia Pathok 25 to buy “bakpia.” Finally, they went to Bandung by plane.
