Spirit of Bandung 01 June 2017 “Spirit of Bandung ” is the International Academic Forum founded by Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Universitas Kristen Maranatha. It is also a Biennial Forum started in 2013 to carry forward the spirit to promote mutual understanding, communication and cooperation between different cultures and to build a bridge of friendship in the hearts of the people. In 2017, Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Universitas Kristen Maranatha proudly presents the 3rd Forum of Spirit of Bandung that adopts the initiative of “The Belt and Road”. This initiative fits the common needs of the countries along the Belt and Road and it creates new opportunities for mutual complementary, opening-up and development of each country.Southeast Asia countries are the main areas of “21st-Century Maritime Silk Road”. Based on the common issues of each Institution in the region, the 3rd Spirit of Bandung forum will mainly discuss how to enhance the mutual understanding and traditional friendship between China and other Southeast Asia countries. To draw on the collective wisdom in studying and solving those issues and to achieve the mutual learning between different cultures, Pusat Bahasa Mandarin at Universitas Kristen Maranatha holds “The 3rd Spirit of Bandung Forum” in 23-24 May 2017. The 3rd Spirit of Bandung discuss 4 topics; 1. The Effective of Cooperation between Confucius Institutes and Local Communities; 2. The Innovation and Development of Language Teaching and Cultural Exchange to face “the Belt and Road”; 3. Enhance Mutual Cooperation between Confucius Institutes of Southeast Asian Countries; 4. Contribution of “The Belt and Road” to enlarge Tourism Industry of Southeast Asian Countries.
