24 November 2017

On September 19-21, 2017, the Civil Engineering Program of Universitas Kristen Maranatha, represented by Cindrawaty Lesmana, Ph.D. as the lecturer and several students, among them are Calvin Humfryanto Sutjiadji, Inge Teresa Hongdrikus, Yunus Hartono, and Rebekah Putri were sent to Taiwan to participate in several activities.

The first agenda is to attend a seminar on BIM (Building Information Modeling), a program capable of simulating all information within a development project into a 3D model organized by the Civil Engineering Program of China University of Technology. The activity was followed by a visit to the laboratory at China University of Technology. Some of the interesting things from this visit were 3D printer and shaking table for earthquake test.

The tour to Taiwan was followed by a visit to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to discuss the 3 + 2 programs NCKU offered and visit to the laboratories and workshops owned by the Department of Civil Engineering, NCKU.

The visit to Taiwan ended with a visit to Taipei Metro, commonly referred to as the Taipei Rapid Transit System. Taipei Metro is a fast transit system that serves the mobilization of Taipei metropolitan residents. The system was built by the Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) and operated by the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC). Then the team got a chance to see the Taipei Control Room as well as to the MRT treatment site; in which all Taipei-owned MRTs are routinely given care in order to achieve safe and convenient transportation.
